Not the flimsy girly chick flick books that have happy romantic endings where the nerdy girl gets the hot guy or the nerdy guy gets the hot girl, but the books that tell the truth. My personal favorite is the Book Thief by Markus Zusak. The way Zusak intertwines the story of a little girl growing up in a Jew-friendly household while dealing with the loss of her real family and the reality of the Nazi times. Not only focusing on the small yet significant thoughts and ambitions but also the gruesome actuality of quick endings that come to expectant living. The point of view from Death itself is particularly mind blowing to me. The way Death sees beauty in its work along with the veracity of its work.
Words simply cannot express the passion and respect I have for this book.
